Tool snapped from pushing feeds too hard: stick to the book or trust your gut?
Some insist on following manual specs to the letter, while veterans say experience trumps printed numbers. How do you balance it?

Lived by the book until a snapped end mill. Now I balance printed numbers with shop-floor intuition.

Oh, that snapped end mill moment. It's like the book's way of saying "surprise, real life here." I've watched folks trust printed feeds and speeds, then hear that awful crunch. Now you're judging cuts by the sound the machine makes, not just the math. My take is the best calibration happens after something breaks. You start adding a little guesswork to the g-code, just to be safe.
