Pro tip: slowing my pierce delay to 0.8 seconds quit blowing out tips on 3/16 plate
I was going through a tip about every 20 pierces on 3/16 mild and it was driving me nuts. Tried bumping my pierce height a hair, swapped consumables, nothing helped. Then a guy at the supply counter in Amarillo asked what my delay was set at and I said 0.3, and he just laughed. Bumped it to 0.8 and ran 60 pierces this morning on the same tip with clean holes. The pierce sits there and burns all the way through before the torch drops now instead of diving into half melted metal. Curious what delay you all run on thicker plate, I feel like everyone has their own number and swears by it.
