Vent: my torch's ground clamp came loose mid sheet and I wasted a whole 4x8
Last Thursday I was cutting a run of 12 gauge brackets in my garage in Fresno and about six inches into the first part my cuts went weird, wide kerf and a ton of dross on one side. I didn't catch it at first because the sparks looked normal from where I stood, but then the arc started sputtering and the machine lost the arc completely. Turns out the ground clamp had worked itself loose on the slat bed and was barely hanging on by one jaw. I stopped, hit the e-stop, pulled the clamp, and ground the contact point down to bare shiny steel before clamping it back. Lost a whole 4x8 sheet of 12 gauge and about 45 minutes of standing there mad at myself. Now I check the clamp before every run, takes 10 seconds. What do you all use to keep the clamp from slipping on a dusty slat bed?
