Warning: my 45 amp tip was blowing through 16 gauge until I tried slowing the cut speed way down
I was cutting some 16 gauge sheet for a bracket job in my garage in Mesa and kept getting nasty dross on the bottom edge. Tried a new tip, checked my air pressure, even swapped out my ground clamp, but nothing helped. Then I dropped my cut speed from 180 ipm to around 120 ipm on my Hypertherm 45 and the dross basically disappeared. Anyone else find that running slower on thin gauge gives cleaner edges, or am I just covering up a different problem?
