Coworking space showed me why video tutorials fail new coders
I spent last Tuesday at a coworking spot in Austin to escape my apartment, and there was this beginner struggling with a Python loop tutorial on YouTube. He kept pausing, rewinding, and still looked lost after 20 minutes. Then some random guy next to him leaned over and explained the same concept in like 2 sentences with a pen and napkin. That moment hit me hard because I've been pushing video courses to friends who want to learn to code, but real talk, they learn faster when someone points at their actual screen and says 'try this line instead'. The tutorial was generic, but the feedback was personal and instant. Now I'm recommending that newbies find a local meetup or even a Discord voice chat before they binge another 10-hour course. Has anyone else seen this pattern where interactive help beats polished videos, or is it just me?

Found the same thing when I taught my buddy, in person beat every video we tried.
