Showerthought: I called online code tutorials a waste of time for 2 years, then one free site got me through my first real project
Back in 2021 I dropped $300 on a bootcamp sampler in Austin and quit after two weeks because I felt dumb the whole time. So I wrote off anything taught through a browser tab, like those free interactive sites where you type in a little box and it checks your answer. Last spring a coworker kept bugging me to try one for 20 minutes a day and I finally caved on a Tuesday night. Honestly the tiny wins of passing each check kept me going in a way a lecture never did, and about 6 weeks in I built a dumb little budget tracker that actually runs. Now I use it more than the $300 pile of videos sitting in my email. If you started with free browser lessons, what site or habit got you over the hump?
