Thought loops were the real way to learn until I tried writing code out on paper first
For my first two weeks learning Python I watched videos and copied code line by line, and it felt like it was sticking. Then I tried a simple number guessing game from scratch on day 15 and my brain just went blank. A guy on a Discord server in Manchester suggested I close the laptop and write the program by hand on paper before touching a keyboard. I did it for a loan payment calculator and it took me about 25 minutes, but I caught 4 spots where I had no idea what the next line should be. Writing it out slow forced me to see the gaps instead of letting the tutorial fill them in for me. Now I keep a cheap college ruled notebook next to me and sketch the steps first. Curious if anyone else does the paper trick or am I just old school about it?
