Unpopular opinion: copy typing code from a book beats every beginner tutorial site
I keep seeing folks say books are dead for learning to code, and I just don't buy it. Three weeks ago I sat down with an old Python book from the library on a Tuesday night and typed out every example by hand, and by Friday I had finished 40 pages and actually remembered the loops without looking anything up. When I follow video tutorials I just highlight and paste, then forget it ten minutes later. Typing it out slow and hitting my own errors made the difference for me. I'm not saying videos are useless, but for true beginners I think the old book method gets dumped on way too fast. What got you all past the copy paste habit?
