Finally hit 1,000 pourovers and my kettle died that same morning

So I kept a tally on my phone for the last 14 months, just little notes every time I did a pour over at home. This morning I hit 1,000 exactly. Same day my gooseneck kettle decides to stop heating. I stood there with the grounds in the filter and cold water in the kettle, just laughing. All that practice and the tool gives out on the milestone. Kinda poetic in a dumb way. I already ordered a new one, but now I'm wondering if my technique was better with the old one since I knew its quirks. Has anyone else had a piece of gear quit right when you felt like you finally mastered it?

Bought a used Mazzer grinder off a guy who was moving out of state, ran maybe 40 pounds of beans through it over two years and learned every little quirk, like tapping the side just right when it clumped. Sold it to upgrade and the new one felt wrong for weeks. Same grind setting gave me a totally different shot and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out the old burrs were so worn they were basically doing their own thing and I'd built my whole routine around a broken machine.
