My laptop battery died at 3% during a call on the patio
Last Tuesday I was at Blue Bottle in Portland doing a client call when my MacBook just shut down at 3%. I thought the outlets near the window were working, but there were only two and both had those sticker strips saying 'not for laptops.' I ran to my car grabbed my 12V inverter, but the cafe owner wouldn't let me plug into the wall. Now I carry a 30,000 mAh power bank every day, but it still took 40 minutes to get back online. Anyone else get burned by a cafe’s 'decorative' outlets?
Three percent is basically nothing. Your laptop warning you at that point is just how batteries work, not some cafe conspiracy. I get that the outlet thing is annoying, but you sat down, didn't check the plugs, and then blamed the shop when your machine died. The owner probably has a rule because people trip over cords or mess up their liability. And honestly, a 30k power bank fixes this in 40 minutes, which is what you did. It's a minor inconvenience, not a life crisis. Next time, charge it before you leave the house or pick a spot near a working outlet you actually verified.
