Power went out mid-video call at a cafe in Chicago
I was on a client demo at a busy spot on Milwaukee Ave when the whole block lost power, laptops and all. I told the client I'd resend the link in 10 minutes, then walked to a library two blocks over and finished the call on my phone's hotspot. Anyone else had to scramble mid-call when a place suddenly goes dark?
Putting the whole plan on a phone hotspot sounds like a gamble that could have backfired just as easily, especially in a busy area where cell towers get jammed. A better move would have been to just reschedule the demo for later that day once the power was back, gives everyone a clean break and avoids the rushed, low-quality connection. Scrambling like that rewards the mindset that every call has to happen exactly when planned, but sometimes the professional choice is to be honest that the situation is out of your hands.
