The corner table at Bluebird Cafe that vanished after 3 years
I sat at the same window spot in Portland's Bluebird Cafe almost every weekday for 3 years. Last week they swapped it for a long shared bench, and now I'm crammed next to a guy on a loud sales call. Anyone else feel weirdly attached to a specific table and lost when it's gone?
Gotta say I see it completely different. I've managed a diner for years and those solo tables are a pain to keep filled, you know? The bench is way better for groups and the owner probably watched that spot sit empty half the day and figured it was wasted space. Maybe try moving to the counter and watching the barista work, I always found that more interesting than staring out the same window anyway.
