The guy at the shop in Akron told me my long boxes were killing my books, and he was right
Honestly I blew him off for like a year. I had 14 long boxes stacked in my basement, full runs, all of it. He said the weight crushes the bottom books and the pages start to wave. I figured whatever, they look fine.
Last week I pulled out my Uncanny X-Men run to reread the Dark Phoenix stuff and the bottom six issues were bent bad. Spine roll, wavy pages, one cover almost split off. Turns out 100+ books per box is way too much weight. I weighed one box and it was pushing 40 pounds.
Went back and got short boxes instead. Took me two full evenings to split everything out. Now nothing goes over about 20 pounds. Lessons learned the expensive way.
How many books do you all actually put in a box before you stop?
