Why does nobody talk about the guy at a con in Mesa who graded my beat up X-Men 141 right in front of me
He flipped through it, pointed at the spine ticks, and said 'this is a 4.5, and that is fine, it survived 40 years.' That was 6 months ago at the Arizona show and I still think about it every time I see people stress over 9.8 slabs. Anyone else have a dealer change how they look at their own collection?
That Mesa guy basically handed you a whole new way to look at your own books. I had a similar thing at a small show in Sacramento where a dude pulled out a Hulk 181 with a chunk missing from the corner and said "everybody wants the 9.8, nobody wants the story," and now I actually read my beat up stuff instead of just bagging it. The hunt for perfect slabs kinda killed the hobby for me until that moment.
