A 30 year diver in Morgan City told me to check my bailout before every dive, no matter how shallow
I was gearing up for a 20 foot inspection job on a dock in Morgan City and this old timer named Ray watched me skip the bailout check since the water was shallow. He put his hand on my shoulder and said "how deep you gotta be to drown?" I have done hundreds of dives and still think about that line every time I rush through my pre dive. That one sentence changed how I gear up more than any class I have taken. Anyone else have a short piece of advice from an old hand that stuck with you?
