inMy forge blower died mid quench on a 1084 blade and I finished it with a hair dryer
My buddy Dale up in Vermont had his blower seize up on a 1095 hunter right at the worst time too, and he ended up running a shop vac on reverse into his pipe setup. Sounded like a jet engine and scared his dog half to death but it worked. He got the blade quenched and tempered that night, though he said the air was way too blasty and he fought it the whole time. The hair dryer trick is honestly smarter since you get steady low air instead of a hurricane. I keep a little battery powered mattress inflator in my shop now just in case, they put out a nice even flow and don't need a cord.

inCopied a panel wiring layout from a job in Reno and it bit me
Check the bonding jumper at the panel and see if the neutral and ground are tied together in the sub. Reno sits under a different utility and a lot of their subs are wired as service panels, so the neutral carries current you don't expect here in Idaho. If your transformer grounded through that shared bar, it would backfeed and smoke low voltage gear fast. What did your meter read on the primary side before it popped?
