Had a draft horse go down on me in the middle of a trim last month

Ha, I was definitely giving my city kid ignorance away there!

Shoutout to the guy who told me to try a different knee kicker on Berber

That "night and day" difference is probably just the relief of using a new, sharp tool. A worn-out kicker will slip on anything. I bet your usual one just needs its teeth cleaned or replaced. @valthomas, your old kicker slipping on loop pile is the same deal, it's a maintenance issue not a magic tool fix. Dropping $40 to rent a specialty tool for every tricky carpet is a band-aid. Learning to properly maintain and adjust the basic gear you already own is the real skill.

Spent $400 on a fancy LED mask and it's just a bright paperweight

Feel the same way about my red light panel. Seems like the only proven results come from professional grade equipment in clinics, not these home gadgets. Saved my money for actual treatments instead.

Tried two different pump setups on the old cutter dredge last week

Wait you swapped just the housing and it fixed the shaking? That's wild. I've seen pits cause cavitation noise but never full system vibration. Makes you wonder how many weird issues are just some random part you'd never think to check. Gotta look at the whole picture I guess.

Question about a comment on toolpath order

Actually ran into this on some tight-tolerance aluminum parts last month. The climb milling was pushing the material just enough to mess with our final dimensions. Switched the finish pass to conventional and it cut cleaner, like the tool was shearing instead of grabbing. On a worn machine, yeah you gotta watch for backlash, but sometimes letting the tool pull through gives a better finish than pushing it.
