Got offered a spot on a saturation job in Galveston and picked the shallow inspection gig instead
Two calls came in the same week, one was a 6 week sat job offshore Galveston at 380 feet and the other was a 3 week pier inspection in the harbor at 30 feet. I took the shallow one because my daughter had a school thing I didn't want to miss and the sat job meant a month plus on deck no matter what. Turned out the pier job was boring as hell, just scrubbing pilings and checking anodes, but I was home every night and the check was still $7200. The guy who took the sat gig made double but came back looking like a ghost and said the chamber time wore him down bad. Wondering if anyone else has turned down deep work for family stuff and regretted it or not.
