Pro tip: check your umbilical before every splash, mine had a pinched airline and I found out at 60 feet
Last Tuesday I was doing a routine hull inspection on a barge in the ship channel when my surface air started feeling thin around 60 feet down. I signaled the tender and we brought me up slow, and sure enough the umbilical had a kink in it from getting pinched under a hatch cover on the deck. We lost about 2 hours of the job getting a replacement run and rechecking everything, and the client was not thrilled about the delay. Now I walk the whole line by hand before I even suit up, takes 5 minutes. Anyone else had a close call from gear that looked fine on the rack?
