Am I the only one who thinks hand sinks in commercial kitchens are mounted way too low
I do a lot of work in restaurants around Tucson and I keep seeing hand sinks set at like 30 inches off the floor, which is fine for kids but a joke for a normal adult. The code wants them at least 15 inches above the floor for clearance but nobody talks about ergonomics, so guys are bending like they are picking up a nickel every time they wash up. Last month I measured three sinks in one new build and all of them sat at 30 to 32 inches, so I bumped mine to 36 and the cook actually thanked me. Health inspectors do not measure height, they just check for hot water and soap, so it slides either way. The weird part is the plumber who ran the rough in blamed the cabinet guy, and the cabinet guy blamed the architect. Anyone else seeing this on their jobs or is it just the crews I run into out here?
