Lost $1,800 on a 'quick fix' water heater swap at my shop in Fresno
Had a 50 gallon commercial unit leaking at my auto shop last March and a guy said he could swap it in a day for cheap. He undersized the expansion tank and skipped the check valve, so two days later the relief line was popping and the health inspector caught the drip during a surprise visit. Between the redo, the $1,800 I paid the first guy, and a fine, that shortcut cost me way more than just hiring a licensed plumber up front. Anyone else get burned by a handyman on a commercial water heater?
