We run a 12 unit strip mall in Tucson and for about 3 years our backflow assembly kept getting flagged by the city on annual testing. Our old plumber would rebuild it every time for around $600 and it would pass for a few months then start leaking again out the relief valve. Last spring a new guy took one look at it and said the assembly was undersized for the building and the constant pressure swings were chewing up the rubber kits. He swapped in a bigger reduced pressure zone assembly for $340 in parts plus labor and we have passed 4 straight quarterly checks with zero drips. Has anyone else had an undersized backflow assembly cause repeat failures like this?
