Remember when we used to reinstall Windows for everything?
I was just thinking about the old days, maybe 2011 or so, and how every single issue was a format and reinstall. Driver acting up? Reinstall. Blue screen twice? Reinstall. Weird popup? Definitely reinstall. Took half a day with all the updates and drivers, sometimes longer if the optical drive was slow. Now I can fix most stuff with a command prompt or a bootable USB in 20 minutes, or just run the built-in recovery tools. It's crazy how far diagnostic tools have come, but sometimes I miss how simple the fix was, you know? You just wiped it and started fresh, no deep thinking needed. Anybody else feel like the job got easier but the troubleshooting got way more complex in return?
Oh man, do you remember the ritual of saving all your files to an external drive first? Ha! I used to keep a little notebook with all my license keys and driver download order written down, because I knew I'd be doing it every few months. My record was a whole weekend wasted on one stubborn sound card driver that kept failing. Yeah, the fixes are way smarter now, but honestly, sometimes I miss just nuking the whole thing and not having to figure out which weird log file was causing the problem.
