Hot take: I thought cross-platform play was going to be a disaster

For years I avoided games with cross-platform play. Figured PC players with mouse and keyboard would just wreck console folks like me. Then I tried Fortnite with my buddy on Xbox while I'm on PlayStation last summer. Lost the first round badly but honestly? The skill difference wasn't that huge. Matchmaking seemed pretty fair. Now I'm actually looking for cross-platform games on purpose. Anyone else change their mind after giving it a real shot?

I mean, I get where you're coming from but I still have my doubts. Like, I tried playing Apex with a buddy who's on PC and every single match it felt like the guys with mouse aim were hitting shots I couldn't even see. Maybe it's just me but the spray control and flick shots seemed way more consistent on their end. I even switched to controller on PC once to test it and it felt like I was moving through mud compared to the mouse players. idk, maybe the matchmaking just wasn't working that day but the skill gap felt real.

That twitchy movement thing you mentioned (the "moving through mud" feeling) is exactly what I noticed when I tried the same test, and it honestly changed my mind about the whole debate. I used to roll my eyes at PC players complaining about aim assist but now I get why they say it.

Hey, has anyone here actually tested the delay difference between platforms? Like, not just aim assist stuff but the actual input lag? I saw a video where a guy measured it and PS5 had like 20ms more delay than a mid-range gaming PC on the same game. @patriciamoore mentioned that "moving through mud" feeling and honestly that might be part of it. It's not just mouse vs controller, it's the whole pipeline from your button press to the screen reacting.
