I used to trash talk Nintendo fans at my local game store in Denver until a 12 year old handed me his Switch
I have been a Playstation guy since the PS2 days and for years I would crack jokes about Nintendo being for kids whenever the topic came up at my local shop on Colfax. Last month I was waiting on a preorder and this kid, maybe 12 years old, was playing Mario Kart 8 next to me and offered me a controller without saying a word. I figured I would smoke him and then hand it back, but he beat me six races in a row and then showed me how he uses motion controls, which I had been calling a gimmick for a decade. What got me was not losing, it was that he knew every shortcut on every track and explained them to me like we were on the same team, no trash talk at all. I went home and pulled out my old Wii that had been in a closet for 4 years and played Mario Galaxy until 1 in the morning. Now I bring my Switch to that shop on Saturdays and the kid and I do time trials together while the Xbox guys watch. Has anyone else had a random kid at a game store completely flip how they see a whole console?
