TIL I was holding my controller all wrong after a friend pointed it out
I was playing through Hollow Knight on my Switch last week, like 40 hours in, and a buddy watched me for a minute and said 'dude, your grip is killing your reaction time.' He showed me how I was using my index fingers on the bumpers and middle fingers on the triggers, which is fine for some games, but for platformers I was losing a split second every time. I switched to keeping my index fingers on the triggers and using my middle fingers for the bumpers, and honestly it felt weird for a day but now my dodges are way faster. Has anyone else had someone call out a weird habit like that and change how they play?
Yeah the 'your grip is killing your reaction time' thing really hit home for me. I had the same issue in Dark Souls where I was doing the claw grip on the right side and my hand would cramp up after an hour. Switched to just using my index finger for both face buttons and triggers and it felt awful for a bit but now my parries actually work.
