Vent: my capture card audio sync took 4 hours to fix, it was one stupid setting
I was trying to record some Dark Souls 3 clips on my Switch via a budget capture card last night, and the audio kept drifting like half a second off no matter what I did. After messing with OBS, updating drivers, and restarting my PC three times, I finally searched a random Reddit thread and realized I had the wrong sample rate set at 48 kHz instead of 44.1 kHz. Has anyone else spent way too long on a tiny setting that made you want to throw the whole setup out the window?

Wasted a whole Saturday once on a similar thing with my turntable setup. I had just gotten a new receiver and the records sounded flat and lifeless no matter what I did. I messed with the speakers, moved them around the room, even bought new cables thinking that was the problem. Turns out the receiver had a "direct mode" turned on that was bypassing the phono preamp the whole time. One button press and it sounded perfect. I sat there staring at the remote feeling like a complete idiot for about ten minutes. The worst part is I had read the manual at least twice and still missed it. Little settings are the real boss fights of any setup.
