I spent 2 years reading every Apollo thread as gospel, then my buddy pointed out the one thing I ignored
I got deep into moon landing stuff back in 2021 and spent probably 300 hours watching videos and reading forums about the flag and the shadows. Last week my buddy Dave, who works at a planetarium in Chicago, asked me one simple question: when was the last time I actually checked a primary source instead of a YouTube summary of one. I went back and pulled the original NASA transcripts from the Apollo 11 mission and the whole thing read way different than the clips made it seem. I felt like a total idiot because I had been arguing with people online for two years using stuff I never verified myself. Now I'm going through the Project Blue Book archives the same way and finding the same pattern over and over. Has anyone else gone down a rabbit hole like this and realized the summaries were doing all the work for you?
