Pro tip: read the actual study before you share the headline, I did and the number wasn't even in there
Last week a friend sent me a screenshot going around about how 78% of people trust some official story or other. I went looking for the source and it traced back to a survey of 312 people done in 2019 at one college in Ohio. 312 people. That's one big lecture hall. And the question wasn't even the one in the graphic, they had reworded it. I'm not saying the official story is right or wrong, that's a whole other argument. I'm saying half the ammo people fire in these debates is stuff they never checked past the screenshot. I've been guilty of it too. So how do you all vet a stat before you bring it into an argument? Is there a site you trust or do you just go hunt down the original paper every time?
