Took the cash payout on the JFK tape theory instead of waiting for the document dump, and I look dumb now
Back in March I got into it with a guy at my gym named Ray about the JFK files. He kept saying wait for the full release, don't trust the summaries, the real stuff drops later. I had $50 on the line (stupid, I know) and I picked the side that said the new batch of records would name at least one person we had not heard of before. I went with the short version, the stuff that came out fast, because I figured anything held back that long is just noise and red tape. Well, six months later the big dump shows up and it is mostly the same names with black marker over half the page. Ray has not let it go. He texts me every time a new file drops with just the word 'interesting' and nothing else. Now I am sitting here wondering if the slow burn people are right and the fast take is always a trap. Any of you ever win an argument by waiting it out, or does the early read always come back to bite you?
Man, the thing nobody brings up is that the "wait for the real stuff" crowd never has to pay up when the dump turns out to be junk too. Ray's whole move is free, he just texts "interesting" forever and never has to put up his own fifty bucks. Think about it, if the big release had named a new guy, he'd say the good stuff is still coming, and if it's redacted garbage like this one, he acts like he called it. That's not a winning side, that's a side that can't lose, and you can't beat a guy playing by those rules. Honestly the early read vs slow burn thing matters less than who set up the bet so only one of you could ever be wrong.
