The rental yard guy in Tulsa who said I'd regret skipping the tire ballast
I picked up a small tractor from a rental yard in Tulsa last month for some grading work. The guy behind the counter, who had clearly been doing this for years, asked if I wanted the rear tires filled with ballast. I figured it would just add weight and slow things down, so I passed. About two hours into moving dirt on a slight slope, the rear end got light and I lost traction. I had to chain up and waste half a day. When I brought it back, he just smiled and said, "Told you so." Now I always ask for ballast unless I'm on flat ground. Has anyone else skipped that step and paid for it?
