TIL the yard foreman who said rent the mini excavator instead of a trencher was right
Back in April I was digging a 140 foot run for a drain line at a job in Boise and my buddy Rick kept pushing me toward a trencher because he swore it was faster. The yard foreman, a guy named Dale, pulled me aside and said the dirt around there was full of old brick and a trencher would just chew itself up. I rented the mini excavator for $310 a day and hit brick at the 40 foot mark, but the machine just scooped it out instead of stalling. Any of you run into ground like that and what do you reach for first?
