My sourdough starter exploded inside a mason jar this morning
I had my starter in a 2-cup jar that I thought was loose enough, but it sealed itself overnight and popped off at 6 a.m., sending dough across the kitchen and onto my ceiling fan. Has anyone else had this happen, or do you always use a cloth top instead?
The sealed itself overnight part is the killer, because a loose lid can still lock down once dough dries in the threads. I read somewhere that you should just leave the lid sitting on top without screwing it, or use a coffee filter with a rubber band. Sounds like you learned that the hard way with the ceiling fan.
