Walked into a bar in Portland with 6 co-op games on my Switch and only one stranger wanted to play
Sat at the counter of a dive on SE Division last Thursday with Mario Kart and Overcooked queued up, and out of the 12 people there only one guy in a Blazers hat grabbed a Joy-Con, which made me wonder if couch co-op is dying or if I just picked the wrong bar.
Man, same thing happened to me at a spot in Austin last month. Brought Smash and Mario Party, laid the Switch on the bar, and got nothing but side-eye for a solid hour. One dude finally asked if it was "one of them retro things" and then proceeded to lose every round. I even tried just handing a Joy-Con to people and they acted like I was passing them a live snake. Guess folks would rather stare at their phones than trash talk over a round of Mario Kart. Couch co-op is out there, you just gotta find the right crowd of weirdos.
