I finally listened to the guy at the retro shop in Sacramento about storing my carts upright
Two months back I was digging through the bins at a little retro shop off K Street and the owner watched me stack about 30 SNES and N64 carts flat in a shoebox and just shook his head. He said flat stacks put all the weight on the label side and the pins take the pressure, and that I should stand them up like books. I shrugged it off because the box fit better flat under my TV stand. Fast forward to this past weekend when I pulled out my copy of EarthBound and the label had a crease across it and two other carts had pins that wouldn't read on the first try. I went back and he laughed and said he tells everybody the same thing. Now I've got them standing in a $12 shoe rack from Target and the box fits in the same spot. Do any of you use those clear plastic cart sleeves, and do they actually keep the labels flat or do they just trap dust?
