My cable nightmare behind the TV stand finally got sorted

Last weekend I was swapping out my PS5 and I pulled the whole TV stand away from the wall. Big mistake. There was a tangled mess of 6 cables wrapped around each other like a rats nest behind there. It took me 45 minutes just to figure out which cord went to the soundbar versus the cable box. I ended up buying a pack of velcro cable ties from Ace Hardware for 8 bucks and labeling every plug with a sharpie on painters tape. Has anyone else dealt with that mess behind their setup after ignoring it for too long?

Did you actually label the plugs before you wrapped them up or did you just guess and hope for the best? Because I tried the painter's tape trick once and the sharpie smudged off after a few weeks of the TV running hot behind it. I ended up having to redo the whole thing with a label maker and clear tape over it. The heat from the electronics just melts that adhesive off some tapes. How's yours holding up that close to the power strip?

I used zip ties from the dollar store and a label maker and it changed everything. I wrapped each cable individually then bundled them together with a bigger zip tie every foot or so. The worst part was untangling the power strip cord from the ethernet cable, that took me a solid 20 minutes of just staring at it. Now I just pull the TV stand out and I can see exactly which cord goes where without guessing. The 8 bucks for the label maker at a garage sale was the best money I ever spent on my setup lol.
