That $18 cable reel finally ended my 3am wire chaos

I got tired of untangling controller cords behind my TV stand every time I wanted to play after work, so I grabbed one of those plastic wrap-around cable reels from the hardware aisle. It kept the cords neat for about two weeks, then the hinge snapped off when I yanked a charging cable too hard, leaving sharp plastic bits near my console. Has anyone found a sturdier way to manage controller cords that doesn't cost a fortune or take up drawer space?

Funny how every cheap fix in life works great until it breaks at the worst possible moment, like the universe testing your patience. The real pattern I've noticed is that anything with a moving plastic part is basically designed to fail, so I just started using small binder clips and velcro straps on my cords instead. It takes up almost no space, costs pennies, and if something snaps, it's just a clip I replace in two seconds.
