The tiny pegboard at my friend's setup made me rethink big shelves

I visited my buddy's 6x8 game closet last weekend and he had everything on one 2x3 pegboard, controllers hanging by their grips with cheap hooks. Meanwhile my custom $140 shelf unit holds maybe half of what he fits, and it blocks my AC vent. Am I the only one who thinks vertical pegboard walls beat traditional shelving for small spaces, or is he just a chaos wizard?
