Threw away $45 on those velcro cable ties that come in a roll

I bought one of those big rolls of velcro cable ties thinking I'd save money over the precut ones, but they just curl up and stick to everything in my drawer (including my cat). Has anyone found a good way to actually cut and use those without making a sticky mess? All I wanted was tidy cords behind my TV stand.

Did you try freezing them for like 15 minutes before cutting? Makes them way less sticky and they don't curl up as bad.
