Just realized my stress management hack is totally different from my partner's in the next crane

I've been thinking about how we handle stress on site. My go-to is five minutes of quiet breathing before I climb up, it really clears my head. But the guy in the crane next to me blasts metal music and says it pumps him up. I worry that my method might be too slow, but his could be distracting. What do you all do to stay sharp and calm when handling long, tricky lifts? Is one way better for safety or just personal choice? Curious to hear what works for the crew here.

He actually listens to metal music up in the crane cab... that's wild. I'd be so worried about missing a signal or something over the noise.

My buddy Rick runs a tower crane and he told me the cab is actually really well insulated, like a car on the highway. Most of the signals from the ground crew are hand signals anyway, so you're watching way more than you're listening. A lot of guys even use a headset for radio calls so they can still hear the music at a lower volume. It seems sketchy at first, but the setup is way more controlled than people think.
