My 55 ton Grove hoist hose blew because of a cheap swivel

Last month on a site near Portland, a 10 dollar swivel fitting let go on my 55 ton Grove and dumped hydraulic fluid all over the cab floor. I checked that hose before the pick and it looked fine, but the swivel had a hairline crack from someone using a pipe wrench on it. That mistake cost me a full afternoon of downtime and about 900 bucks in fluid and parts, plus the operator before me left no note about the damage. I always thought swivels were bulletproof until I saw how a simple twist can wreck the whole circuit. Has anyone else had a small fitting take down a big lift, or do you swap swivels on a schedule no matter what?
