My roommate wanted a cat, I voted for the gecko, and 6 months later I still think I was right
When my roommate Jess brought up getting a cat last August, I pushed back and said a leopard gecko was the smarter pick for our 400 square foot apartment in Toledo. Everyone I know acted like I was being cheap, but a cat needs a $200 vet visit, a litter box I'd have to smell every morning, and she travels home to Cleveland twice a month. The gecko lives in a 20 gallon tank, eats $8 of crickets a month, and doesn't care if we're gone for a weekend. Jess still brings up the cat thing at least once a month, but who's the one cleaning the tank, me, so I think I won that fight. Has anyone else picked the low maintenance pet and caught grief for it?
