One good day at the library workshop turned my whole prompt habit around
I've got a buddy who swears by anonymous suggestion boxes at his local cafe, and he says the weirdest stuff shows up when nobody's watching. Maybe I'll try stealing that idea for a weekend write-in, low stakes, just a jar and some slips. I'm curious if the magic was the crowd or the forced time limit, though, because I might just set a timer next time I'm stuck at my desk.
Try flipping it around and look at the physical space. A timer at your desk does nothing about your view, your posture, or the hum of your own fridge. Libraries force you to sit in a specific chair, under specific lights, surrounded by other people also not talking. That shared silence is a kind of pressure, like everyone's focus is a wave you can ride. Your desk already knows your bad habits, so it just lets you repeat them. Change the room, change the loop, that's the real trick.
