A waitress in Tulsa fixed my pun problem without knowing it
I was at a diner last month and the waitress kept saying 'that'll be a minute' every time she refilled coffee. My buddy joked she was a time traveler. Then it hit me. Most dad jokes fail because the setup is too long. You spend 3 sentences building to a punchline nobody asked for. She got a laugh with one simple phrase and zero setup. I went home and cut every joke I had down to one line. Shorter punchlines hit harder. My wife actually chuckled twice this week. Has anyone else tried stripping their jokes down to bare bones?
