Hot take: a pun doesn't need a twist at the end, and my Thursday at the laundromat proves it
I keep seeing folks here say every dad joke needs a hard left turn at the end, and I just don't buy it. Last Thursday I was sitting at the Spin City on Delmar waiting on a dry cycle and wrote down 14 dryer puns, and the ones that got the biggest groan from the guy next to me were the plain ones, no punchline switch, just straight wordplay about lint traps and missing socks. He actually said "that one's so simple it hurts" and asked for more. So I'm sticking with it: a clean pun lands better than a tricky one most times. Try telling one to a stranger this week and tell me if the plain version doesn't get the better reaction.
