Hit 1,000 walks on the same loop and I'm not bored at all
Honestly, everyone talks about switching routes to keep dogs from getting bored, but my husky and I have done the exact same 2.3 mile loop around the reservoir every single morning for the last 4 years. That's roughly 1,000 trips, and I actually think she gets more excited now than when we started. She knows every fire hydrant and squirrel spot like clockwork, and I've memorized which benches get the best sunrise. The predictability is the point, it lets us both zone out and just be. Sure, I've tried other trails and parks, but they always feel like work. Has anyone else found a weird comfort in the same exact path every day, or am I the only one who's given up on variety?
My lab mix knows the exact tree where the fat squirrel lives, and if I try to walk past it too fast she plants her feet and gives me this look. Four years on one path means the dog isn't just walking it, she's reading it like a book she's memorized. New trails are all sniff and stress, but the home loop is where she gets to relax and be the expert.
