TIL my dog's harness was rubbing him raw on our 3 mile loop and I feel awful
My lab Rufus and I do the same 3 mile loop through Riverside Park every morning, and last Tuesday I noticed a bald patch under his front leg. Took him to the vet and she said it was friction from the harness strap, which I had snugged up two months ago because he kept backing out of it on a squirrel chase. I switched to a padded Y front harness over the weekend and the spot is already growing hair back. Thing is, I always figured a tight harness was safer than a loose one, so now I am second guessing how I had it set for so long. Anyone got tips on how snug is actually right, or did I just learn this the hard way?
