Stuck with a 3 hour time difference for client calls. Started using Calendly's 'buffer time' setting and it saved my sleep schedule.

Remember when daylight savings messed up all our meetings?

Buffer time is just a band-aid for bad planning. You should block out your own work hours and stick to them, not rely on an app to fix your schedule. Clients will respect clear boundaries if you set them from the start. Letting a tool manage your sleep means you gave up control of your calendar.

Ever have a client who just doesn't get time zones? My friend had a client who would book calls at 7am her time like it was nothing, and she was too nervous to say no. She tried the whole "blocking hours" thing that @julia622 talks about, but this client kept emailing asking for "just one quick call" outside those blocks. Using buffer time was her way of making a soft rule without a big fight. It wasn't about giving up control, it was about picking a battle she could actually win. The tool just helped her enforce the boundary she already wanted.
