Hit 500 loads without a cracked dish after switching to cold rinse only
I used to scrub everything hot until my buddy showed me his 10 year old rack with zero chips just from letting the dishwasher do the real work, anyone else try skipping the pre-rinse completely?

Right on about the cold rinse only idea. I switched about a year ago and my racks are still spotless. That buddy of yours knows what's up. The hot water actually bakes the food on before the wash cycle even starts, so you end up with more work, not less. Just scrape the big stuff, load it up, and let the detergent do its thing. It's saved me time and my dishes are actually cleaner now.

Wait, don't you think the temperature of the water matters for actually dissolving the detergent though... I've had way too many loads come out with greasy film when I went full cold rinse. It might save the racks but my glasses end up looking cloudy.
