Rinsed every dish for 20 years then my dishwasher broke and I feel betrayed
I spent two decades pre-rinsing plates like a good little soldier, scraping off every last speck of sauce before loading the rack. Then last Tuesday the pump died and the repair guy said it's because I wasn't letting the machine do the work. Has anyone else had their dishwasher straight up fail after being too thorough?

Oh man, that repair guy basically called you a traitor to your own dishwasher. I had the same thing happen with my washing machine. I always scraped mud off my soccer cleats before tossing them in, and the repair guy said I was "overprotecting" it, like it was a delicate flower. It ended up breaking because the drain pump got lazy from never having to push any actual dirt through. Now I'm just letting my clothes get gritty and hoping for the best. It's a weird feeling, like the machine is telling you your whole life's routine was wrong.

Washing machines need real work to stay healthy, coddling them just makes things worse.
