Unpopular call: top rack is better for mugs than cups

I know everyone says stack cups on the top rack, but I moved all my mugs up there instead. The spray arm at the bottom leaves my cups spotty, while the top rack gets them perfect in my Bosch from 2021. Mugs dry faster too since they face down at an angle. Anyone else run into this with their machine?

Oh man, you're onto something here! I actually did the same thing after my bottom rack mugs kept catching weird water spots (drives me nuts). The top rack spray pattern on my KitchenAid distributes way more evenly for mugs since they're not fighting for space with plates below. Plus, when mugs are angled on the top tines, the water actually drains out of the handle curve instead of pooling - that's a game changer for drying. And since mugs are usually shorter than tall cups, they don't block the detergent dispenser either, which is a sneaky problem people don't notice until their lids come out with soap residue. I'd argue it's actually better for the machine's water flow too, since the bottom arm can focus on your flatware and bigger items without having to fight past a row of bulky mugs.
